Upkeep Of The Mona Lisa

Upkeep Of The Mona Lisa

“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground” – Genesis 1:26 NIV

GOD created the universe and this planet and filled it with beautiful things. It was and still is a work of art. He was and still is proud of His work.  Like all the great artists to ever walk this earth He marked His creation or work of art with His signature so that anyone who ever wondered who is the artist would know who it is. Like all great artists and their famous works, eg. DaVinci (Mona Lisa), Michelangelo (The creation of Adam), Van Gogh (Starry Night), Monet (Water lilies) and Picasso (Le Demoiselles d’Avignon), He was proud to be associated with His masterpiece. Who does He then entrust with the upkeep of this masterpiece? The one He made in His image and in His likeness. The one He has given dominion over everything.

I looked up the meaning of dominion on Google and the answer was, “dominion is power or the use of power; sovereignty over something; stewardship, supremacy” while authority is the power to enforce rules or give orders. GOD would not have entrusted His masterpiece to a weak and feeble creature. He made sure He made us stewards and gave us the power to enforce. Seeing that I’m also made in His image and His likeness I must behave and act like one who has been empowered and given the right to command and enforce.

“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD (Isaiah 54:17 NIV). Our vindication is from our maker and we have been given this power by Him. This means everything is under me and nothing on this planet has power over me. Everything is subject to me while I’m subject to the one that has appointed me, I’m the ambassador of heaven while I’m on earth and must conduct myself as such.

Everything (limitations and addictions) only have power over me because I allow them to. It’s my ignorance that fuels their existence and my failure to put them in their place. When Jesus encountered the demons they begged Him to let them go into the pigs because they knew He understood who He was and His authority, He didn’t have to announce or introduce Himself. We are meant to also walk with that type of authority. It has already been given and our mandate is to know it and exercise it as led by His Spirit. The more I am faithful with the upkeep of His masterpiece, the more responsibilities I’m entrusted with.

Seeing that I’m also made in His image and His likeness I must behave and act like one who has been empowered and given the right to command and enforce.
