“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” – Hebrews 12:2a

As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue – II Peter 1:3, His Name is Jesus. He is the answer to everything, the Bible says “looking to Jesus”. The testimonies of the conquests of others through Christ are supposed to lead us to Christ. It is through Him that the witnesses gained a great testimony, the thing to look to is not the testimony itself, but the One who made it happen, Jesus. The testimonies of others taken the wrong way can cause a stumbling block between us and the vastness of Christ as our minds can make others’ experiences our ceiling. We can end up in a place of wanting what happened to others to happen for us, which is probably why we say ‘what He has done for others He can do for you’ (which is not wrong). However Christ Himself went further than this, which took the lid off what’s possible, He said “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father”, John 14:12.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). By now we know when we become Christians we don’t turn into valentine cherubs, floating on air, shooting arrows, eating cake, and daydreaming, it’s not a holiday, it’s as real as the earth we see. But we live from the victory Christ has won for us, He says “you win always because I, the hope of your salvation am not on earth in the flesh anymore, you are here, I have gone to the Father and you live through me as I live in you. I have overcome everything evidenced by your seeing eye, live literally, not vicariously, through Me”. We face every day through the finished work of Him who came on earth faced everything and conquered, and gave us the victory, and sent us His Holy Spirit. There is so much that can be said here, but let me put this to you, loss/losing is not on the table, if your story ends in loss you must have hugely digressed from Christ to get there!
