So Blessed

So Blessed

I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know… how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people – Ephesians 1:18 GNB.

There’s a great need for us to have understanding of the words which are spirit and life – our glorious gospel. To this wise, Paul writes eloquently, “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.” The things, promises or blessings God has freely given to us can only be taught to us by the Spirit. Similarly, to be able to appropriate them it requires for us to understand and know them. Things of the Spirit must first be received or believed in spirit before they can be realized. However, we believe what we know and understand.

We all want some blessing from God, but quickly forget that God is Spirit and all we need from Him is first and foremost spiritual before it can manifest in whichever way we need it. We’re dealing with a God who has given us richly all things to enjoy, but these things must first be believed and received in the spirit before they can be realized in any form we want them. God is spirit, and so are all His blessings for us. That’s why Scripture says, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit,” 1 Corinthians 2:9-10.

The Spirit reveals to us the things, promises or blessings of God by teaching us, giving us understanding and making us know them. For when we’re taught, know and understand then we’ll believe and receive what is promised and freely given to us. Now you can see we need right teaching, right knowledge and right understanding. This is what constitutes right believing. Right believing gives us the promises or blessings. Notice that without the Spirit of God all this is impossible. Presumptuous or pompous teaching without the Spirit cannot do. Our God has freely and richly given us all things to enjoy.
