You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives – Genesis 50:20 NIV.

The story of Joseph is one of the stories in the Bible that shows us the importance of process on the way to the fulfillment of purpose together with the faithfulness of GOD. It was GOD who allowed Joseph’s brothers to put him in the pit, to sell him into Egypt and eventually into the house of Potiphar. It was GOD who also allowed him to be thrown into prison after being accused of attempted rape by Potiphar’s wife. GOD also allowed the butler to forget Joseph after he had been released from prison. If anyone had helped or rescued Joseph anywhere in the process they would’ve taken him back to his father, and him, Israel and the whole of humanity would have perished at the time the famine hit.

GOD used Joseph’s gift of interpreting dreams to bring him before Pharaoh (Proverbs 18:16). It was only after the process that GOD elevated Joseph to second in command to the most powerful ruler in the world at the time. Most of us don’t want to go through the process because the process is uncomfortable and painful. GOD has given us the grace and enablement to go through it and ultimately use us to help many others. Esther 4:14 says, “For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

GOD has called each and everyone of us for such a time as this to provide relief and deliverance for many through us but before He can do that, He has to take us through a process. Anything or anyone that may seem to be against us is only a tool in GOD’s hand to get us where we need to be. You might be in the pit now but GOD is taking you to the palace for your salvation, and that of your family and of the nations.

Joseph’s life shows us the importance of process on the way to the fulfillment of purpose together with the faithfulness of GOD
