Abraham; Prudent Investor

Abraham; Prudent Investor

“Through Christ Jesus, GOD has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing He promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.” – Galatians 3:14 NLT

On the 2nd of July 1962, a man named Sam Walton opened a store in Arkansas, United States Of America, and named it Walmart. He did this to serve the people in the area as there was a need, little did he know that this seemingly insignificant store will change the lives of people forever. In 1967 it had grown to twenty-four stores earning $12,7 million in profits. In 1980 it now had 276 stores and 21, 000 associates, with $1 billion annual revenue. The company is now run by his descendants and currently, the Walton’s are the richest family in America with an estimated net worth of $235 billion. This all started with one man with a vision to change his society.

Christianity is also an enterprise that credits its success and influence to Abraham’s obedience and courage. He sacrificed everything and his initial investment has grown exponentially and we are currently enjoying its fruits (Genesis 22:18). To be a recipient and to share in the proceeds of this investment you need to be a believer and have faith in the Son of God. All the promises of Abraham are ours if we maintain and also grow the vision of the initial investment. We are all called to advance the Gospel and recruit others to also do likewise. It all started with Abraham and the same anointing is ours only if we imitate him (imitate his faith and obedience to the word of God).

Abraham was blessed abundantly and the above Scripture proves that we too can partake only through faith. He made the initial sacrifice so that his descendants could also share in his promise. We are meant to be as successful as he was, in fact, we are meant to be even more successful because we have the Holy Spirit that has been freely given to us. My question, then, is with so many Christians living in poverty where is the problem? We know GOD hasn’t changed, and the Bible assures us that He hastens to fulfill His Word (Jeremiah 1:12). Then where is the problem? I believe the secret is hidden in the life of Abraham and how he conducted himself. There is something about how he believed and acted on the word of God. How he dropped everything and everyone to follow his GOD even when it cost him everything (this man was even willing to dissect his offspring). Maybe my long wait for physical manifestation of God’s promises in my life is as a result of my disobedience in an area in my life that I may not have surrendered to him, maybe. Why did GOD call him His friend? Maybe the answer lies here. Like Sam Walton, Abraham has already made the initial investment, it’s up to his descendants and inheritors of his estate to grow this enterprise even further.

We are meant to be as successful as he was, in fact, we are meant to be even more successful because we have the Holy Spirit that has been freely given to us
