A Soldier Ready To Serve

A Soldier Ready To Serve

Thursday, 31 January 2019

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier – 2 Timothy 2:3-4.

We are called to serve and to be soldiers in the army of God. Imagine you get a call in the middle of the night to come for a meeting in church.  What will your response be? Are you ready for it? I am sure for some of us, this is not easy. Remember when we were not born again or when we were backslidden, our friends would call in the middle of the night asking us to wake up and get ready to go to a party. We would wake up and not think twice about it. It is the same thing with the call of being a soldier for the Lord, dedication.

The day we said yes to Jesus, was the day we stopped being free agents. You agreed to the terms and conditions of being a soldier in the army of Christ. Soldiers are always ready to be called for war. They are dedicated to their country. They risk their lives for the peace of other people. That is what we are called for my friend.

Isaiah 42:6 says “I, the Lord, have called you and given you power to see that justice is done on earth. Through you I will make a covenant with all peoples; through you I will bring light to the nations.” The nicest thing about being a soldier for Christ we do not depend on our own power, but the power from above. We just have to be available. God does not require our ability but our availability. We now belong to the great army of the Lord.
