Shed Off The Weight

Shed Off The Weight

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us – Hebrews 12:1 NLT.

Christianity was never intended to be hard for anyone, it was never meant to be a dread. In fact the opposite is true, Christianity was intended for men to rest. Christianity is entering God’s rest, that is what He promises all those who come to Him – rest, (Matthew 11:28). So, all these that we are often worried about, that we constantly stress about and that weigh us down should not really be a bother to us.

If we find ourselves worried we are just bothering ourselves about things that were never meant to bother us. If GOD takes our yoke, therefore worries are His to deal with not ours. I have never seen an athlete running a race successfully while carrying a burden with them anyway.

The Holy Spirit constantly urges me to take a good look at my life and remove everything that weighs me down and keeps me from a life of obedience. We must really get to a point in our lives where we are honest with ourselves and with GOD. Do we perhaps have a wrong habit or attitude that binds us? Are we plagued by fear that weighs us down and keeps us from fulfilling our potential in Christ?

We ought to make a rock-solid, quality decision today to grab hold of those unnecessary burdens and lay them aside and permanently put them away from our lives. Once we make that decision, we’ll find ourselves running the race of faith with much more ease as we press on to victory!

I have never seen an athlete running a race successfully while carrying a burden
