A Divine Act Of Honor

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” – John‬ ‭14:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The one spiritual language GOD understands and is seen and expressed throughout the Bible is the language of honor. He is moved by our ability to show gratitude, respect, and great regard for Him and others. The scripture above speaks of The Holy Spirit teaching us all things. When we receive the Holy Spirit, there are things that we suddenly just KNOW. Things He speaks into our hearts that we know to be God’s truth and will, even though no one has necessarily taught us or said anything about them. The Word also says The Holy Spirit will bring things that Jesus said to us to remembrance. I believe these include the things He said to us before even the foundation of the earth. Things He spoke into our hearts while we were with Him in heaven. Hence the KNOWING that comes upon us when we receive His Spirit. This then explains why Abraham understood in his heart, without anyone teaching him, that he needs to honor GOD with his giving. The Spirit of God in him ministered this to his soul.

Giving is an act of honor and acceptable worship to GOD, which when done with a pure heart, rises up to Him as a sweet-smelling aroma. As His children giving and tithing should flow easily from our hearts because it is also an expression of love. And if we say we love Him, then we should be able to express it practically by loving, not only His people but also what His Kingdom stands for.

In Philippians 4 Apostle Paul shares how no church shared with him concerning giving and receiving. This leads me to believe that the Holy Spirit is the one who taught him this principle and is also the one who revealed the Kingdom’s secret of what happens when we give. “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.” Philippians‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. We not only give as a sign of our gratitude for the blessings GOD has poured on us, but it is our giving that attracts even more of His blessings, and this is what apostle Paul desired for those who gave.

“Honour the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:9-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬. GOD exalts His own Word above all else and as a promise maker, He is also a promise keeper. He is not asking us to do anything that He will not do for us many folds over. We deny who we are and what we are called to do when we still want to debate the idea of sowing in the house of GOD, while on the other end we are happy to plant seeds in worldly things that can never bear any lasting fruit. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of GOD, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. We need His wisdom and understanding in all things. Especially in the area of tithing and giving.

We not only give as a sign of our gratitude for the blessings GOD has poured on us, but it is our giving that attracts even more of His blessings
